Should we prohibit employees from using AI?
Usually, no. A complete ban can drive AI use underground and make it harder to manage. Most organizations are better served by providing approved tools and clearly defining acceptable use.
Can employees enter confidential information into ChatGPT or other AI tools?
That depends on the tool, account type, contract, configuration, and nature of the information. Your governance policy should clearly define what information is prohibited and which approved systems, if any, may process sensitive data.
Are paid AI accounts automatically secure?
Not necessarily. Paid consumer accounts and centrally managed business accounts may offer very different protections. Each product should be evaluated based on its terms, settings, retention practices, integrations, and administrative controls.
